Why are nunchaku illegal in CA but carrying a bat, a long metal pipe, or a 2X4 legal?

I know they are used for everyday things other than hurting people, but the point is you don’t need any special training to hurt someone with a baseball bat, or a golf club. But in order to hurt someone with nunchaku or a tonfa (Police baton) you would need some really good training. Plus making a tonfa or a nunchaku is much simpler than making a baseball bat or a metal pipe, you could make one at home with two pieces of wood.

      They’re not illegal, you can take them to and from your Martial Arts school. You just can’t carry them with you every where you go since they are a weapon.

      The intention to use it was intended use it as well pen 12020 the difficulty is in proving that.
      For protection showing intended to use as weapon nunchakus like brass knuckles etc have no purpose other than to use it was intended.
