Is successful Golf really more muscle memory than it is a game of emotional and life balance?

John S. asked:

4/5/2010

Witness Tiger Woods who today on national TV during the Masters opening week opined that his prior 4 wins at the Masters was not related to his personal life or extramarital indiscretions.

This would suggest that emotions and CONSCIENCE are less related to perfomance on the green than some traditional golf training would tell — i.e. training which encourages BALANCE to free the mind so as to hit the shot JUST RIGHT.

The credentialed media of 260+ journalists allowed to ask Tiger questions today as long as the questions were respectful, kept searching for an answer to a fundamental golf principle: i.e. one has to be balanced in order to concentrate and perform well on the golf course.

Yet by Tiger’s own admissions, he was way out of balance all the while he won major tournaments.

So is muscle memory REALLY the more important trait to develop in Golf over emotional balance in order to score better?

Should Golf FOREGO all the psycho-babble of “free your mind and conscious” in order to concentrate and hit the ball well, in favor of just ROTE PRACTICE in order to develop muscle memory over strategic concentration?

What does the Tiger Woods story and experience have to teach us with regard to the way we view what is needed to be more successful at Golf?

Why are nunchaku illegal in CA but carrying a bat, a long metal pipe, or a 2X4 legal?

Joshua asked:

I know they are used for everyday things other than hurting people, but the point is you don’t need any special training to hurt someone with a baseball bat, or a golf club. But in order to hurt someone with nunchaku or a tonfa (Police baton) you would need some really good training. Plus making a tonfa or a nunchaku is much simpler than making a baseball bat or a metal pipe, you could make one at home with two pieces of wood.

Golf Cart drive train?

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

☆LOLツ☆ asked:

I have an old Club Car golf cart. The engine is in the back (obviously), I was thinking it was RWD. I was going up a hill and only the right back wheel was spinning, I was thinking it was just like the other wheel couldn’t force spinning because of the engine being only how many HPs they have. I saw that the drive shaft was going to the back wheels, so is it really RWD? And what are some cool tricks you can do with a golf cart?

Does any Indian feel like their Country need to step up in the Olympic games?

Really not_true asked:

India has the second largest population of the world at 1.1Billion. Their economy is growing really fast second only to China in Asia. Yet the medal counts at the Olympic games are terrible at best. Not to mention any other sport events (beside cricket and golf). I have many Indian friends in H.S. College and at work. They are perfectly fit and love sports. I totally believe they are capable. Why don’t Indians go for more medals or invest in more training?

Yellowdiver asked:

There are 8 (I think) that have been released on the PSP so far. They are:

1. Everybody’s Golf (also known as Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee)
2. Everybody’s Golf 2 (also known as Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2)
3. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
4. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08
5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09
6. ProStroke Golf: World Tour 2007
7. Pangya Fantasy Golf
8. Let’s Golf (available on the PSP GO)

And then there are some Golf training UMD’s that I’m not going to include.

Which one from the list do YOU think is the best one? And why?

Stanford Golf Training Complex

Saturday, July 10th, 2010
pineview1947 asked:

Stanford University Athletics has teamed with Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects to create what is arguably the most innovative practice facility in all of golf. The 30-acre practice center is designed to provide Stanford’s men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams a unique training experience at a facility that is unmatched in collegiate golf. The Siebel Varsity Golf Training Complex is crafted on 30 acres of previously undeveloped land adjacent to the Stanford Golf Course. The distinctive quality of the facility is its six green complexes, complete with bunkering, each inspired by a different design style that Stanford’s men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams play on a regular basis, each complete with intrinsic grasses and sand textures.
