Power Golf - Swing Speed Is A Major Factor

Mike Pedersen asked:

Golf swing speed is talked about on the course, on the practice range, with your instructor and now in commercials like the one Vijay Singh does for the Speed Stik. It is desired by most golfers, since most golfers equate higher swing speeds with more distance.

If I lined up 100 golfers and asked them how many wanted to hit the ball farther. How many do you think would say yes? Do you think 60%? 70%? 80% I’ll bet even more than that. Improving your golf swing speed is key factor in getting those added yards! In fact, swinging at higher speeds (but in control) will always give you more distance.

There is…and always will be a never-ending pursuit to hit it LONG! Golfers admire the guy who can step up to the tee and crush his drive 300 yards. At the end of a round, the stories golfers tell are usually the long drive so-and-so hit on the 14th hole. Do you agree?

Golfers will pay any amount of money in hopes for an extra 10-20 yards, but the question to ask is…are they getting that extra yardage? What approach are they taking to achieve it? Are they using a golf training aid? How about a conditioning program focusing on the power muscles of the core? Or maybe some special breakfast meal they eat before they come out to play.

Either way the demand is there to do whatever it takes to hit the ball harder and with my clubhead speed. So much so…that golfers step to the tee and think that swinging as hard as they can will accomplish this. You and I know this does not work.

You’ve seen the training aids on the television promising rapid increases in your golf swing speed. In fact, some say their aids will increase your swing speed up to 10 mph! That’s huge…if that were really the case! But we know it’s not! If you were to work on your swing mechanics, golf specific strength and flexibility, and improve swing speed, you could definitely see an increase of 5-8 mph!

This increase can mean anywhere from 10 to 30 yards on your drives! That’s significant! Enough to go to the 19th hole with a big ol smile on your face from ear-to-ear! The only thing to keep in mind is conistency. Pick an approach and do it regularly! I mean schedule it out and make an appointment with yourself. This is a very effective way to stick to a regiment and get the full benefit from it!

I am a huge proponent to total golf training and not just one aspect. What I mean by this…is working on your body, working on your swing, and using a golf swing speed training aid.

This is a wicked combination and one that will give you the best results that will last long-term! The body, the mind and the swing is the total package. Work on these components regularly and the sky is the limit!

Golf 101 - Improve Your Driving Distance Easily With These Tips

Tess Brahm asked:

The drive is very important in a game of golf. It doesn’t do you much good if your first swing that gets the ball off the tee lands a few short yards away. All golf experts will tell you to improve your driving distance first before anything else. This might sound easy to beginners, but this entails a lot of golf exercises and training to ensure that you get it right.

The Basics

Before you start getting complicated with the right club to use for a better drive, you might to consider the foundation first — your body. That’s right; you would even get a good solid yard with your shot if you don’t have the physical power and balance to back it up, even with the right club.

Position, power, and balance are the main key points to improve your driving distance with each swing. A good backswing is done with a flexible body. If you can’t go all the way with your body then you wouldn’t achieve sufficient power to give your shots those extra yards that golfers crave so much. Golf training exercises that involve lower and upper body rotation and improvement on muscle stamina should do the trick.

These exercises that you can find in sites online or in self-help books are aimed to give you power, balance, and flexibility. Now all that’s left is your position.

Position

There are tons of advices available on how to improve your driving distance. Some focus on the wrist, the swing, position of the body, and so on. If you want it easy then you need to get the right tee height and the position of your ball for a long drive.

The secret to a long drive is the height of your tee. Too low will cause your swing to lose a lot of power when it touches the ground. A high tee ensures that your club head is free from any distractions for a powerful hit.

The position of the ball should be considered as well. When posed for the shot, make sure that the ball should be in line with your left armpit. This gives you enough room for a full backswing and enough space for building up your power for a longer drive.

Developing Your Best Golf Swing Requires Method Not Magic

Harry Monell asked:

Are you among the vast majority of golfers who are constantly searching for ways to improve that painfully revealing final score? Well, take heart in knowing that most any golfer will do pretty much anything to improve the quality of their game. Golf lessons are the obvious choice, but some will buy any new product, with golf tips or golf training, that comes along, which offers quick fixes and immediate results. Many golfers will grab any new golf swing training aid, method or philosophy perceived as revolutionary, hoping to short cut the process toward a better round of golf. And, probably worst of all are those who think a better result is guaranteed with the purchase of a brand new set of golf clubs and, for some, the more expensive the better.

But, these are all pitfalls that any golf beginner should certainly try and avoid. Lack of success in your golf game is most often a result of misplaced priorities and overlooked fundamentals. It’s not about the products delivering empty promises, nor is it your inability to drive the golf ball 350 yards, no matter how strong your golf grip or how hard you try to infuse super human powers into your follow through, as you swing the mighty golf club. Surprisingly, in the end, success will ultimately arrive, as you achieve your best golf swing through relaxation, patience and practice. And, a golf lesson or two won’t hurt either.

A consistent simple golf swing is without question the most important element in a well played round of golf. It’s a matter of controlling uncertainty by changing a key variable into a constant. It’s a process that will no doubt exact a considerable price, as you devote the time and the means to master the golf swing basics. It’s important to remember that golf is no different than anything else in life. If you expect favorable results, you’ll have to set personal goals and develop good habits that will ensure a positive outcome. Practice, fitness and mental preparation are equally important components in your approach to achieving your best golf swing.

And, most importantly, you should have fun with every aspect of practicing, anticipating and playing the game of golf. That, along with some level of golf instruction involving a few golf exercises and stretches will increase physical fitness and thereby add strength and endurance, which will carry you through the final holes. You’ll feel better and you’ll play better as your golf score and handicap provide testimony to your dedication and hard work.
