ryan asked:

Honestly, will anybody really care if i run in track spikes on a regulation golf course (its in the off-season so nobody’s out playing)?I live right across from the 12th hole of a huge golf course, and there’s a lot of houses that border the course, but I don’t think it makes that much of a difference. And I would only be doing sprints (interval training).

pruitt82 asked:

I started playing golf about 4 months ago. I play a round almost every weekend. I’m looking to improve my game, i shoot around 95 a round. My worst aspect is driving. I’m tired of watching the golf channel and seeing all the ads for the “greatest training aid ever!” and hearing how many pga players us it. Anyone out there that has started out like me and improved using a training aid??

Question about military language school for position 98 Golf?

wwinny asked:

Hey any one out there at the language training military base?
I am thinking of joining the military to learn Spanish and to be their translator. But I worry that if I don’t pass the class they will send me to any job they want. My worry is I have zero Spanish background and they might make the language class hard (or maybe there will be native speakers there )so that people who signed up for it would fail out and be assigned to other duties.
Let me know.
Thanks!

Easy Golf Exercises You Can Do At Home — Simple Pointers from Golf Experts

Calista Abbott asked:

Quite a lot of questions have been asked about the perfect physical condition for a great game of golf. You don’t need bulging muscles or flexibility like that of a ballerina to become Tiger Woods. It all boils down to proper golf exercises that target specific areas in our body to give you powerful and accurate swings and the stamina to maintain that power until the game ends.

Golf Training Exercise 101 - What Is Used For the Sport?

Before we start out with our training program to improve your body for golf, the first thing we need to do is to determine what areas in our body need to be improved. For example, the muscles in our body need to be tight as a spring if you want to get a lot of power behind your swing; making sure that they are flexible enough to avoid getting aches and pains after a few holes.

The secret to being a successful golfer is the improvement of the so-called core muscle group. This involves every major muscle group, starting from your belly button — your abs, sternum, hips, and buttocks. That’s right, improving the “core muscle group” definitely guarantees a peak physical condition during your game.

A Simple Exercise You Can Do At Home

There are two ways to do this simple exercise — with any normal chair in your home or with an exercise ball. You should be sitting upright, with your chest high and your back straight (don’t slouch).

Hold with your two hands a weighted medicine ball or a 5 or 10 pound dumbbell held straight out in front of you with your hands extended. Rotate your upper body without moving from your sitting position until you reach your limit. Continue holding the ball and rotate to the other direction. Repeat this exercise a few times until you get the hang of it.

Other golf exercises that mimic the same maneuver targets our body’s rotation. The perfect swing comes from a full rotation of our upper body while maintaining a constant position with our lower body. This helps guarantee that you swing with the right posture to avoid upper or lower back pains every after each swing and gain full flexibility as well as improved rotation strength and muscle stamina.

Golf Training Workout

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

John Tahan asked:

Vijay Singh for example uses weighted medicine balls to work his golf core muscles throughout the whole week of the tournament. In fact his caddie is his rainier. How convenient! The best of both worlds!

But hearing the phrase golf core exercises and knowing what your core is are two different things entirely. As a fitness professional it’s easy for me to throw out that phrase often to impress would-be clients or customers to my golf fitness training products.

But that’s not the case. Understanding what your core is and how it plays a critical role in producing maximum power; injury prevention and even stability is very important. Once you know?you’ll soon realize this may be your missing link to a great game.

This area (core) starts roughly at your belly button and goes up to the bottom of your sternum. It is the engine of your body and awareness of your core affects golf the most. Think of it as the link in the chain that needs to be the strongest, not the weakest.

Two simple golf core exercises that will quickly strengthen your core is ab crunches and back extensions. These would be your initial exercises to give you the strength to move onto rotational exercises that put a little more stress on your spine if the muscles aren’t conditioned enough.

Once you’ve accomplished the above exercises, you can move on to a crunch with a twist and a back extension with a twist. This will hit your rotational strength right away…which will quickly equate to greater power output and distance.

You can then progress up to standing on your feet doing several different variations of rotational movements with a single dumbbell, standing upright and also in your golf posture.

Now that you have a basic understanding of golf core exercises?you hopefully will see how important it is in your overall golf improvement plan.

So next time you hear the phrase on the television?you’ll know what golf core exercises are.

Golf Training Club - 7 Ways a Golf Training Club Can Help Your Game

Monday, November 2nd, 2009
golf training
Maxx Johnson asked:

Since Tiger Woods has taken over the PGA Tour, everyone is looking for golf-specific workouts and exercises. A golf training club, also known as a golf practice club, is a useful piece of golf fitness equipment to any golfer. Here are seven ways that a weighted golf training club or a golf practice club can help your golf game:

1. A golf training club allows you to work out and strengthen the exact muscles that you use in the golf swing during your workout program. All of the top fitness trainers attempt to build strength in their athletes replicating the motion that they will be using in their sport. Most of the time they have to use free weights and can only come close to resembling the actual movement.

2. Since you cannot really get any more golf specific than using a weighted practice club in your work outs, it is one of the most effective ways to increase your club head speed. Obviously, club head speed has a direct impact on how far that you can hit the ball as well.

3. Although the golf training club may only be a couple of extra pounds, the more times that you swing it, you will see a big difference as the extra weight and will help you increase your flexibility The extra weight will make it difficult to stop at the top of your back swing stretching you farther and increasing your flexibility.

4. The same theory holds true on the forward swing as well. A weighted golf practice club will turn you through to a better finish position facing your target.

5. Another benefit of a heavy golf practice club is the extra weight will force you to use more of your core muscles. You will do this not only to swing the club around you but also to keep your balance during the swing. Balance is a very important part of the golf swing that is often overlooked by many golfers and even instructors.

6. It is important that you use a golf training club that is weighted proportionately to a real golf club. Just throwing a weight at the end of a golf club is just not the same. As all of the weight is at the far end of the golf club and it feels nothing like what you really swing.

7. It is also important to remember to swing the golf practice club both right handed and left handed. If not, you will not be giving equal work to both sides of your body and with one side stronger or weaker than another, an injury may occur.

A golf practice club will not work every part of your body. You will need to do other exercises for your hamstrings for example. However, a golf training club will give you better balance, increased flexibility and building strength as benefits of a golf practice club, you will see an increase in your driving distance that is sure to lead to shooting lower scores.
